Face-to-face surveys

The interviewer conduct the survey in the respondent’s own home. The questionnaires in these surveys are often longer and the collection of data acquired is therefore extensive and of good quality.

The Institute regularly oversees large face-to-face surveys. This method is not used frequently due to its time consuming nature but it can offer a comprehensive insight into the subject.

During the preparation of these surveys it is necessary to design the interviewing method, questionnaire and answer sheets, to contact the participants and to book interviews. In this type of survey, it is very important to train the interviewers well because there is more risk of an interviewer influencing a respondent by not conducting himself correctly.

A response rate of about 65-70% percent can be expected when this method is used.
