The research team at the Social Science Research Institute have taught research methods at the University of Iceland for many years. Teaching covers both quantitative and qualitative research methods, ranging from the fundamentals of research methodology to more specialised approaches to data collection and analysis.
Teaching in quantitative research methods covers topics including statistics, data presentation and analysis, inferential statistics, and regression analysis. Students also receive training in the use of statistical software.
Teaching in qualitative research methods covers the main approaches and research traditions in qualitative research. Topics include research planning, developing research proposals, interviews and other forms of data collection, data analysis, and presentation of findings.
The Institute of Social Science also offers consultancy, teaching, and tailored courses for institutions, businesses, civil society organizations, and other groups. The content and scope of each course are adapted to participants’ needs and may cover topics such as research methods, questionnaire design, data collection, statistics, and data analysis.
