The report gives a comprehensive picture of 12 jobs in social and health care services; their position in the labor market, development, field of work, study programs, training and needs for knowledge and skills.

The information was based on interviews with numerous professionals, trade unions, employers, instructors, and others in the field of education, as well as 329 employees and supervisors in the 12 activities taking part in a special survey on staffing requirements, attitudes towards education and development of work.

Third and last, the survey is a general attitude and service survey for the employee company to use in its work and policy formulation.

First, to examine the remuneration of members of BHM, BSRB and KÍ; wage terms, attitude to the working environment, opportunities for career development, integration of work and private life and lifelong learning.

Second, to investigate whether gender-based pay differentials were among the members.

Third, to examine whether there were differences in terms of employment based on people's backgrounds and characteristics of workplaces such as their size and role.

Evaluating the satisfaction of the staff with their workplace and working environment. The social sciences' work environment scale was proposed, and this scale was developed to assess specific aspects of the internal working environment of companies and workplaces. 

The Social Sciences Institute conducted a survey among members of the Reykjavík Chamber of Commerce in February 2003 at the request of VR. The aim of the survey was to check the payroll of VR members.
